Important Question regarding WoW CD Keys!! Please help

Hello,

I recently decided I wanted to start playing WoW because all of my buddies have been. One of my friends let me use his Cd Discs to download them on to my computer. It includes the first 6-dics set, the Burning Crusade set, and the Wrath of The Lich King set. Now obviously, when I put in my WOTLK disc, and proceed to try and create my account, it asks for a "Game Key"

The key from the discs I used was already claimed by my buddy so I need a new key. I know you can purchase new keyt online so I don't need to go out and buy the games.

My question is, do I need to buy the keys for all 3 of the sets, or just for the WOTLK expansion pack, since that is the disc that is prompting me to enter a CD-key.
