Lomax,

All of those instances are 5 man instances. You will need a well balanced group to run them. Let me break it down for you and provied some basic info, You will need:

A tank: This guys job is keep all the mobs hitting him so the softer guys can get on with there jobs. Druids in bear form, warriors with a sheild in defence stance and Paladins can fill this role.

A healer, ofcourse this guys job is to heal, Preists, holy paladins, resto druids and shamans fit in here.

DPS, damage classes. Mages, rogues, hunters, Warlocks, shadow preists and cat druids fit in here. There job is to "nuke" down what the tank is hitting.

CC, Crowd control. In some instances even the best tank cant take the hits from every thing all at once. Here you need classes to control some of the mobs and effectively remove them from the fight for a time. Hunters traps, rogues sap wizards sheep and warlocks can banish. Its very important during these fights that the DPS dont break the crowd control and noone uses an AOE (area of effect) abilities.

To make targetting easier a good tank will mark his pulls and then specify a kill order. You can mark targets by right clicking there potrait and then selecting the mark you want to apply from the drop down list.

Hope that helps buddy and enjoy your first instance groups.

Thanks a bunch for the information. I really had no idea it was that detailed. I new that you had to have some type of order, but I was unaware it was that detailed.

I'm definately a tank as far as my character goes. I sure hope I can get the hang of it and do my part well. At first I'm sure that there's going to be some angry people in my group Oh well I got to learn somehow.

Thanks again.

Excellent overview Datoudi! Lomax, everyone has to start somehow like you said so don't worry about what the others in your group think.

The tank is an integral part of a raid or instance.
You will be responsible for the main pull of all mobs in every instance you go into.
The main thing you will need to do as a tank is to make sure that you can gain and keep aggro. If this does not happen, the group will wipe.

In our kara team the 2 tanks are the raid leaders that will give instruction to every member in he raid group about what they are to do.

Tanking is a very very important role... but very rewarding!
A good tank is an abosolute god send in any raid situation!

I would suggest searching the net for any tanking guides you can find and start reading up.

Its alot of fun to tank from what I have seen and heard so I hope you give it a shot and have a blast!!

I personally have not tanked but I agree with Dvahlish, tanks are one of the most important and more sought-after roles in any instance so if you're a good one you will become well known with those in your groups.

Yeh...tanks also get abit of a hard time.
A lot of the time in raids when things go wrong, the tank gets the blame.
We have some awesome tanks in our guild and I have no hesitation in going into any instance with them and knowing they will keep aggro and keep direction of the raid the whole time.

Tanks and healers (GOOD tanks and healers) will always be in demand and always have a place in any raid.
