I have only just come to understand what MP5 means....

Im a rogue...I talk about energy gain and combo points!!!!
Overhealing is just wasting mana on big huge heals when you could conserve your mana by doing heals over time or smaller heals.

For example Main tank is at 70% health and you smash him with a heal that restores 60% of his health. Yeah...he didnt die for now but your mana took a bigger hit than it could have meaning if the fight runs for too long he could die later due to /oom.

Ah got ya!
So basically, overhealing is almost like panic stations...
A healer that isnt so good at judging how much he should/can use in order to heal effectively.

So they just heal a whole damn lot because they dont want to wipe a raid I guess.

The most efficient healing in an ideal world is to wait untill your target is just above the value of your greatest heal, then by the time the cast completes in theory they have took a little more damage and you pop a full heal on them. Its suprising how many healers at level 70 spam high mana cost small heals soon as the tank starts to take any damage. Healing like that not only heals for less at the cost of more mana but prevents you from entering the fsr and receiving your full mp5.
