HOW DOES HE DO THAT?!

So, at ID tech, playing against someone at WC3:FT.
I send my ghoul to work, send 2 acolytes to work, have the third acolyte summon 2 crypts and 2 ziggurats, then send it to work. After the crypt is done, I make a ghoul for lumber, same for the other crypt. I get enough gold and summmon a graveyard. once I get 2-4 crypt fiends I get 4-8 gargoyles attacking me.
When lunch interrupts a game he's playing, I ask him how many crypts he has. He said 5, but that was late game.
Can anyone think how someone could get so many gargoyles so early in the game?
