What level did you go to Outland at? You might have gotten a summon to go there a level or two early, maybe right at level 58, or some people stayed in Azeroth for a couple more levels.
I went right at level 58. I was going to stay till 60 to finish up some quests but I just couldn't wait to get to the "new" area.

My situation was exactly the same. I was gonna wait but then I went at 58 and there was no turning back. I was hesitant to go there. But, mostly in the same way I am hesitant to take the plastic protectors off my new electronics or hesitant to open the christmas present that is in front of me. Now I am glad I didnt wait the gear upgrades I got were AWESOME and easy to get. The quests were not too difficult even at 58 and now if I want to I can go PWN the crap outta the quests I didnt finish in plaguelands and winterspring. Nevermind the fact that if I do go back and do that I will continue to increase my profs past 300.Where if I had waited to go I would have been wasting that opportunity.
For my next up and coming toon level 30ish Draeni Hunter. I plan to grind my way to 70 and go back through all the OutLands quests for the gold earning opportunity. Well thats if they dont nerf that before I get to that point heh.
For me that would just be too boring, I can only grind so much. I think there's enough gold-making in daily quests and quests that I didn't finish while leveling.
Well don't forget grinding doesn't always mean just killing mob after mob relentlessly for hours on end. You could find a group of instance grinders and spend your time getting ramps and BF on farm status. I don't think that would be boring. I used to run LBRS,UBRS, and BRD over and over and over. I usually had fun every time. I got to the point that I had them completely memorized and the loot potential was terrific if you got a group that would go with you repeatedly.
I went a little earlier, my boyfriend (yes..yes..I am a female that plays wow....imagine that!!!) Had a 70 mage and he portal'd me there for a look around.
At 58 I went back with a group of 70 guildies and ran about getting all the FP's.
At 58 I did go through the famous portal and took the screenshot....not really knowing what I was doing i ran straight out on to the quadrant area and was promptly killed.
Ahh...those were the days.
I hope to gawd I never see another hellboar in my life........ever.
